Zepbound®

What is Zepbound®?

Zepbound® is a prescription medication used along with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity for chronic weight management and for certain adults with obesity and obstructive sleep apnea. It should only be used under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider.

WARNING: Risk of Thyroid C-Cell Tumors

• In rats, tirzepatide caused thyroid C-cell tumors. It is unknown whether Zepbound causes thyroid C-cell tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), in humans.
• Do not use Zepbound if you or a family member have ever had MTC or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).

Do not use Zepbound if:

• You have a personal or family history of MTC.
• You have MEN 2.
• You have had a serious allergic reaction to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients.

Before taking Zepbound, tell your healthcare provider if you:

• Have or have had pancreatitis.
• Have severe stomach or digestive problems.
• Have kidney disease.
• Have gallbladder problems.
• Have diabetic eye disease (retinopathy).
• Are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
• Are taking insulin, sulfonylureas, or other medications.

Serious side effects may include:

• Thyroid tumors, including cancer.
• Severe stomach problems.
• Pancreatitis (severe abdominal pain that may radiate to the back).
• Gallbladder problems.
• Kidney injury due to dehydration.
• Severe allergic reactions.
• Low blood sugar when used with insulin or certain diabetes medications.
• Vision changes in patients with type 2 diabetes.
• Risk of food entering the lungs during procedures involving anesthesia or deep sedation.

Most common side effects:

• Nausea
• Diarrhea
• Vomiting
• Constipation
• Stomach pain
• Indigestion
• Injection site reactions
• Fatigue
• Belching
• Hair loss
• Heartburn/acid reflux
